Children's library services
Love reading, love libraries
Our libraries have books for children and young people of all ages and abilities, from the latest best sellers to classic stories, books for children learning to read and those that struggle. We also have lots of information books to help with learning and interests. All of these books can be borrowed for free. If your local library does not have the children's book you are looking for we can usually get it in from another library, just ask the staff if you can request a book - it's free.
A place where children can have fun and learn things
Children can use the computers (with parent’s permission), ask about booking a session. All libraries offer Wifi too.
We also have stories on CD that children can borrow and film and TV programmes which can be hired.
Joining the library is free and you can even join online from home, children under 16 need an adult guarantor.
Our friendly and welcoming staff are happy to help you and your family whatever your needs - we look forward to seeing you soon
The adoption journey
A selection of books are now available through libraries covering a wide range of topics from the adoption process to parenting an adopted child. These books are for children, families and professionals.
We have produced a special booklet Books for Adopted Children and Teens Books for adopted children and teens 3mb that includes stories and information books to support very young children to teenagers. All of these books can be reserved for free from any library or online.
