How can I use a computer?

If you live or work in Wiltshire you will need a Wiltshire library card, visit your local library to become a member and you will be able to use a computer as soon as you have joined. If you are under 16 you will need to bring your parent or guardian so they can sign a consent form. All new members will be given a PIN*, you will need this to use a computer.

Once you are a member of Wiltshire libraries you are able to book a computer in advance, just phone your local library. You will need your library card number to do this.

What you need to know before you start

Library staff will be happy to give you basic help and support when using a computer, however, if you have never used a computer before or if you need more advanced help, you may need to attend a training course. Some libraries run IT taster sessions for beginners and all libraries will be able to direct you to an appropriate course in your area.

All Internet access on library computers is filtered; this is to prevent access to offensive or illegal websites. If you find that you can access a website you believe should be blocked, please report it to a member of library staff. If you find a site that you believe should available please ask a member or library staff to request that it is unblocked.

*PIN - (Personal Identification Number):

As a member of the library you can obtain a unique four digit PIN, which will allow you to access your account details, place a reservation; check your loans and renew them online. If you don’t know your PIN, please visit your local library, taking your library card with you.
