Cooling tower registration

The Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992 requires that all premises containing a wet cooling tower, evaporative condenser or both must notify their local authority on an approved form. This does not include small air-conditioning units.

The main purpose of this notification process is to identify potential sources of risk and allow enforcing authorities to monitor and inspect them more easily.

Pleasure boats

Should you wish to use a boat or other craft on the UK's rivers and canals, you are required to register, buy a licence or pay a toll to the appropriate navigation authority for that waterway.

Hire boats are licensed by the hire company, but should you wish to use the boat on a waterway for which it is not licensed you should consult with the hire company first.
