Customer notice

Due to essential maintenance some of our web services will be unavailable between these times 7pm Friday 25 May and 5pm Sunday 27 May 2012.

This service will:

• Enforce legislation relating to the safety of consumer goods. Examples include toys, electrical goods, cosmetics and furniture.
• Provide free independent and professional advice and information to consumers and trade and industry.
• Ensure that special emphasis is given to the surveillance of goods and services origination within the Wiltshire area.
• Provide advice and assistance to all Wiltshire-based businesses.

The following list of recent product safety notices is available from Trading Standards.

For consumer advice

Wiltshire Council's Trading Standards Service works in partnership with Consumer Direct to provide free impartial consumer advice.

Consumer Direct is a telephone and online consumer advice service, supported by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Consumer Direct provides clear, practical advice to help consumers sort out problems and disagreements with suppliers of goods or services.

The Consumer Direct telephone service currently operates in Scotland, Wales and most English regions. It will become operational in other regions in the future and will ultimately become a national service.
