Travel concession scheme

Who qualifies?

  • People who are permanently resident in North Wiltshire; and
  • Are aged 60 or above, or
  • Are disabled for any of the reasons shown on the application form and guidance notes.

What is available?

The scheme offers four options for getting help with the cost of transport. You can only choose ONE option. If you choose tokens you will not be able to change your travel concession until invitation to renew, usually 12 months after issue.

Option 1 – bus pass

This allows free off peak travel (after 09.30am) anywhere in England (this includes Swindon).  Free bus travel is available all day within Wiltshire but there are some bus routes in Wiltshire on which the pass is not accepted before 09.00. List of bus pass restrictions 308kb.

Passes are also valid on the Connect2Wiltshire bus to RUH – this entitles bus pass holders to a discounted fare of £5 single or £6.50 return. You need to book Connect2Wiltshire in advance by calling 08456 525255 at least 2 days before travel.

Applicants must be in receipt of disability living allowance at the higher rate for mobility to qualify for this pass.

The Senior Citizen’s Railcard gives a one third discount on most rail fares.

If you require a Disabled Person's Railcard, instead of a bus pass we will send you a voucher covering the cost. You will have to post the voucher to the rail company - details will be given with the voucher. This Railcard also gives a one-third discount and if another adult is travelling with you, they can travel at the same discounted fare. For further details on this concession please contact us as the qualifying criteria are different.
