Placing a vacancy – information for providers

The Childcare Team offer packages for settings, childminders and schools who want to advertise their early years and childcare vacancies with us. As part of these packages we will support you to ensure adverts are accurate and reflect safer recruitment practices. We also offer advice to ensure your advert is attractive to potential employees.

Our most popular package is our annual subscription service which includes:

  • Unlimited adverts posted on our vacancy page
  • Vacancies advertised at Childcare Team training days and recruitment fairs the Childcare Team attend across the county
  • Details of vacancies in our monthly newsletter
  • Details of vacancies on our Facebook page and Twitter feed

To place a vacancy with us you just need to confirm the subscription you want to take out, we will invoice you for this, and then provide details of the vacancy in a Word document by email to childcareworkforce@wiltshire.gov.uk

We will keep in contact with you during the period your vacancy is advertised, and can make changes to your advert i.e. extend the closing date at any time.

Sunny Days in Lyneham are looking for a Deputy Manager to join our professional and expanding team in our busy pre-school and club. You will play an important role in our management structure, leading and inspiring your team, and also confidently step up as Manager in their absence.

Candidates must be qualified to Level 3 in early years and have at least 3 years’ experience working in a supervisory capacity (either as a Room Leader or Deputy Manager) in an early years setting. Some of your duties will be:

Lodge Farm Nursery School has a great opportunity to join their team, based on an agricultural farm in the Chippenham area.

Duties will include covering all aspects of the day-to-day care and learning opportunities of the children; planning and delivering activities; interacting with children and parents when ready.

You will be with the children indoors and outdoors in all weathers; supporting children at meal times, with toileting and with all individual welfare and learning needs. The successful applicants will be responsible for a few key children when ready which involves; observing children at play, carrying out assessments and planning new learning opportunities.

Sunny Days Children’s Nursery in Calne is looking for a motivated, passionate and dedicated practitioner to join our enthusiastic team in the baby room.

Play Co-ordinator Wiltshire Short Breaks and Positive Activities

Barnardo's is commissioned by Wiltshire Council to provide a range of activities for children and young people with additional needs. Our Phoenix youth clubs operate in a variety of venues across North and West Wiltshire for young people with additional needs aged 13-25.

Clubs operate for 46 weeks of the year from 6.30pm to 9.00pm each week and staff are required to work from 6.15pm to 9.15pm. A Place 4 Us is a youth club which is commissioned by a group of parents in Calne and is run along the same lines as the Phoenix clubs from 7.00pm to 9.00pm each week with staff being present from 6.45pm to 9.15pm.

Objectives of Service

  • To enable young people aged 13-25 to experience a range of fun, social activities suitable to their needs in a safe and secure environment
  • To enable the young people to extend their social networks, develop their confidence and learn new skills

Initial Specific Responsibilities

  • The Play Coordinator is responsible for planning, recording and coordination of each session and for the support and supervision of play staff and volunteers during the sessions. This includes ensuring our services are safe, risk assessments are undertaken and the provision is responsive to the needs and wishes of the individual young people
  • The Play Coordinator, in partnership with the scheme coordinator will also ensure that all relevant information is accessed with regard to the young people attending the sessions and the necessary consents are obtained
  • The Play Coordinator will liaise with parents and with other professionals as appropriate
  • The Play Coordinator will assist in the evaluation of sessions and ensure that young people and parents views are taken into account in the provision of the service
  • The Play Coordinator will contribute to a quarterly report to our commissioners and attend staff meetings as required

You will need to be experienced in delivering services to young people with additional needs. Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety requirements are essential to this post. You will need to be a confident communicator, able to relate to children and young people, parents, professionals and staff.

Your hours will be split across the clubs with a requirement to work within 2 different clubs each week whilst taking the lead in planning and supporting staff in the other 2 clubs which will be led by Play Organisers in your absence.

In order to meet the requirements of this post it is essential that the coordinator has access to transport and is able to travel between clubs and visit families at home if required. It will therefore be essential to have business insurance. A mileage allowance will be paid.

The Play Coordinator may also be offered opportunities to cover the work of coordinators and other staff in other clubs during periods of holiday and sickness.

Because of the nature of this work all applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
