The Registration Service has custody of registers that record births, deaths and marriages occurring in Wiltshire since July 1837 when civil registration was introduced in this country.
Information can only be released in the form of a certificate for which a fee is paid. Please see the registration fees page for details of current charges.. As all records are kept by date, it is important that you be as accurate as you can with any date provided.
The Wiltshire BMD site is easily accessible by the public and allows them to look at the indexes of births, marriages and deaths in Wiltshire from 1837 to the current day. This is an ongoing project and some births and deaths will not yet be loaded but it is hoped that the indexes of all Wiltshire marriages will be complete by the end of 2010.
