In Wiltshire we have four registration offices and many other stunning venues, so no matter what kind of ceremony you are looking for; we can provide you with a location that is perfect for your needs.
If the venue you have chosen is not currently licensed as an approved venue for civil ceremonies, it may be possible to licence it as a “single event venue” for the duration of your ceremony. This may suit a village hall or local pub who do not wish to take the route of full approval for legal ceremonies but who do wish to hold one of these special events. The approval decision will rest with the Licensing Officer within the Registration Service who would attend to inspect the prospective venue. The naming ceremony is put together by you. You will be given every opportunity to discuss your specific requirements to include certain elements such as favourite pieces of poetry. You will be creating a memorable event that you, family and friends will remember. Take time to consider what music, readings or poetry have special meaning for your family. Special people in your family circle can take part in your ceremony. Please ask our registration service staff for further advice on anything you are unsure about.
The birth must be registered and the birth certificate produced when booking the ceremony. Any parent can make the arrangements or anyone else who has parental responsibility or legal guardianship of the child. Parents don't need to be married.
Payment
All bookings are subject to a deposit inclusive of VAT which is non refundable.
Fees are subject to review annually and are effective from 1 April. Any increase in fees will apply to any ceremony due to take place on or after 1 April even though a deposit/fee has already been paid. See fees for more information.
