Ceremony where couple wish to say declaration to each other

Hello/Good Morning/Good Afternoon everyone and welcome to the ceremony room here in (insert name of register office) register office, a building licensed for the registration of civil partnership.

You have all come here today to share in this special day of commitment for (insert name) and (insert name).

When two people commit themselves to each other they form a special relationship founded on trust, love and friendship. (name) and (name) have chosen to have their special relationship recognised in law by forming a civil partnership in the presence of witnesses. This will also enable them to enjoy the rights and responsibilities that registration brings and a permanent record of their partnership will be created.

The partnership registration requires (name) and (name) to make a declaration to each other followed by the signing of the partnership schedule.

Ask each in turn to repeat declaration:

“I declare that I know of no legal reason why we may not register as each other’s civil partner. I understand that on signing this document we will be forming a civil partnership with each other.”

(name) and (name) would you please sign the partnership schedule.

Would the two witnesses please sign the partnership schedule.

(Optional)

(name) and (name) are now going to exchange rings/gifts.

I give you this ring (gift) as a sign of my love and trust and as a symbol of my commitment to our life together.

Or

Please wear this ring (accept this gift) as a symbol that I have taken you to be my life partner and as a token of my love and trust.

……………. and ………………, you have made the required declarations and formed a binding contract with each other in the presence of your witnesses here today and are now legally partners for life. We wish you a very long and happy future together.

When two people commit themselves to each other they form a special relationship founded on trust, love and friendship. This will also enable them to enjoy the rights and responsibilities that registration brings and a permanent record of their partnership will be created.

The partnership registration requires (name) and (name) to acknowledge the wording of a declaration contained in the partnership schedule which they will then sign.

Celebrant reads wording to couple.

“I declare that I know of no legal reason why we may not register as each other’s civil partner. I understand that on signing this document we will be forming a civil partnership with each other.”
