Community risk register
About this service
Risk assessment is the first step in the emergency planning process and aims to identify those risks which could result in a major emergency in Wiltshire; it ensures that planning and other work is carried out in proportion to the risk.
The Wiltshire and Swindon Community Risk Register has been published by the Wiltshire and Swindon Local Resilience Forum as a requirement of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. The Civil Contingencies Act places a legal duty on all Category 1 responders to carry out risk assessments and maintain them in a Community Risk Register. The Wiltshire and Swindon LRF Community Risk Register is available on the Wiltshire Police website.
The Government has published a National Risk Register which sets out their assessment of the likelihood and potential impact of a range of different risks that may directly affect the UK on a national scale. The National Risk Register is designed to increase awareness of the kinds of risks the UK faces, and encourage individuals and organisations to think about their own preparedness. The register also includes details of what the Government and emergency services are doing to prepare for emergencies.
