Countryside volunteering

Please tell us what you think about our website, we welcome your feedback.

Whatever your age, ability or background, there are lots of opportunities to get involved as a volunteer in improving Wiltshire's environment (or further afield). You may like the idea of managing woodland or restoring a pond, helping to rebuild a canal lock, manning a visitor centre or being involved in publicity and marketing.

Many organisations in Wiltshire welcome volunteers. There are numerous opportunities to volunteer and you can usually find something that develops your interests - nature conservation, landscape, heritage, education, or countryside management. The reasons for volunteering are many:

  • Sense of achievement
  • 'Doing your bit'
  • Improving skills and knowledge
  • Making new friends
  • Developing career prospects
  • Improving health and fitness
