The community and voluntary sector support unit is working with other partners on ‘Wiltshire Money’ to tackle financial exclusion. People are financially excluded when they do not have access to basic financial services and products such as:
- affordable and responsible credit
- appropriate bank account
- face-to-face debt and budgeting advice
- basic home contents insurance
- savings
- energy tariff advice

A key piece of work for Wiltshire Money and one which the community and voluntary sector support unit is supporting is Wiltshire Community Bank which provides a single credit union* service to people in Wiltshire. Wiltshire Community Bank provides a range of services to their members including affordable loans, budgeting account, top-up debit card.
There is now a Wiltshire Money website.
* A credit union is like a community bank which operates as a co-operative and is regulated by the government through the Financial Services Authority (FSA). As a member you have the opportunity to make savings, take affordable loans, and benefit from the other services offered.
