Regulatory Committee
Purpose
The Regulatory Committee has been in operation since December 2001. The responsibilities of the Committee include functions relating to:
- Town and country planning and development control.
- Licensing and registration, and the determination of applications under the Explosives Act 1875.
- Public rights of way, and the regulation of the use of the highway.
- Health and safety under any “relevant statutory provision” within the meaning of Part 1 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to the extent that those functions are discharged otherwise than in the Council’s capacity as employer.
- Determining appeals against any decision made by or on behalf of the Council, the Cabinet, or any Committee, except appeals by staff under their conditions of service.
- Elections, except the appointment of the returning officer and the submission of proposals to the Secretary of State under the Representation of the People Act 2000.
- Any other matter which cannot lawfully be discharged by the Cabinet or any other Committee of the Council.
- School transport issues.
This Committee follows the rules and procedures detailed within the County Council's Constitution.

The Vice Chairman of Regulatory Committee is Mr Tony Deane
The Committee is comprised of 13 members (membership).
