Consultations on education

About this service

Wiltshire Council actively seeks the views of its residents in the decision making process for education within the county.

As part of this process, the Local Authority (LA) undertakes consultation on its plans for education in the county with the publication of draft documents for response.

The proposals are advertised in the press, and copies of relevant documentation are made available to interested parties, including parents, school boards, elected members, unions and school staff. Written comments on proposals are invited from those wishing to express their views.

How we hear the people we serve

Voice and influence

  • Children and young people - a strategy is currently being developed for consulting with children and young people in a consistent way so that they can have a greater say in their services
  • Parents and carers - can currently influence services through a range of consultation, feedback and survey routes

Schools

The council consults with schools on a number of issues throughout the year and does this either directly or through a number of established consultative groups.

Public

The council consults the public on issues relating to Children and Education via a number of routes. This includes public consultation meetings, specific consultation documents and the posting of information on our website.
