What is meant by local area?

This is the area within a 15-20 minute walk of your home. It is your local area or community where there is a feeling of common use or a common atmosphere or an area you identify with and would benefit from any improvements.

What is meant by moderate exercise?

When you are active for 30 minutes or more two 15 minute sessions, e.g. a brisk walk, some active leisure pursuit, heavy gardening, heavy housework or DIY.

What is meant by active sport?

A sport where you are active for 30 minutes or more such as football, running or swimming. Playing chess doesn’t really count as an active sport.

What is a portion of food?

The recommended daily intake is 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, not including potatoes. A portion is:

  • 1 apple, banana, pear, orange or other similar sized fruit,
  • 3 heaped tablespoons of vegetables (raw, cooked, frozen or tinned)
  • a dessert bowl of salad
  • a glass (150ml) of fruit juice (however much you drink, fruit juice counts as a maximum of one portion a day)
