Introducing Equality and Diversity
Within the Communities and Voluntary Sector Support team, there are four dedicated officers working on the corporate equalities agenda which are the Equality and Inclusion Lead Officer and three Equality and Inclusion Officers all of whom can be reached via equalities@wiltshire.gov.uk
The team’s key priorities for 2011 were to:
- support and influence strategy / policy development, implementation and review to ensure equalities and customer focused perspectives are fully integrated;
- support elected members, departments / service areas to work effectively under the new single equality duty and promote inclusion; and
- work with internal and external partners to promote good community cohesion and inclusion.
We are currently working on our response to the new public sector equality duty. More information on this can be found in our comprehensive equality policy
We are also continually monitoring the effects of our employment policies and procedures
We consult about equality and diversity work across the organisation, in service provision across the county and in partnership with other organisations in Wiltshire through:
- an extensive and ongoing programme of equality impact assessments
- the Council’s disabled employees and black minority ethnic employees forums
