1. What is the name of the policy or service that is being assessed?

Health and Safety Policy (includes lone working policy) Wiltshire Youth Offending Service

2. What are the aims of the policy or service? Whose needs is it designed to meet? What are the current priorities?

To ensure the health and safety of staff, volunteers, clients and visitors to YOS premises

3. In what ways might this policy or service affect some groups of people differently? Might some groups find it harder to access the service? Do some groups have particular needs that are not well met by the current policy or service?

4. What evidence do you have for your judgement? Is there evidence of public concern (e.g. complaints)? Have staff raised concerns? Is there local or national research to suggest that there could be a problem?

There have been no complaints about the policy, although there have been complaints by staff, specifically in relation to health and safety issues in respect of YOS premises. All of these complaints have been taken seriously and the YOS has on a case by case basis made all reasonable adjustments/improvements that are possible. The health and safety issues, in particular at Salisbury YOS will only be entirely dealt with by a move of premises. The YOS continues to explore all possible options in this regard.

See section 4
