Information for People Receiving NHS-Funded Nursing Care prior to 1st October 2007
From the 1st October 2007 there will no longer be three bands of NHS-funded Nursing care. There will be one rate of £101 a week for people assessed as eligible.

What happens if I was receiving middle or lower band funding under the old system?
If you were receiving the low and medium bands before 1st October 2007, you will move immediately onto the standard weekly payment of £101. Your eligibility for NHS-funded Nursing Care will continue to be reviewed regularly, as it was previously.
What happens if I was assessed as receiving the high band of funding under the old system?
If you were receiving high band funding before 1st October 2007 you should continue to receive this higher level of payment until your case is fully reviewed in line with the National Framework.
If, on review, you:
- are not eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare, but your needs are still such that they would have been granted the high band payment under the old system, payment will continue at the high rate
- have needs that would have been medium or low, you will move on to the new, flat-rate payment
- are eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare then NHS-funded Nursing Care payments cease.
The same procedure should be followed at all future reviews.
