From 1 December 2012, the Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) is now called the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and CRB checks are now called DBS checks.

Wiltshire Council is a Registered Umbrella Body with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau). We own and operate an online DBS Service that allows us to provide online Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checking processes to other organisations and businesses, formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau checks.
There are lots of benefits of using our online DBS system these include;

There are three levels of CRB checks:
The level of clearance you require will depend on the type of work the applicant undertakes. The cost for the actual DBS check is set by the DBS. We will make a charge for administering the umbrella services which includes the continuation of the process after the form has been completed and submitted by yourself or the applicant, this includes the verification of the application, countersigning, validation and releasing the application for processing. It also includes unlimited access to telephone and email support from experienced staff members.
As an umbrella body we can process DBS applications on behalf of organisations.
