Connect 2 Wiltshire
All aboard for Connect 2 Wiltshire …
From the 1st October 2007 the Connect 2 Wiltshire network of flexible transport services will officially expand to include the Vale of Pewsey, Calne, and Mere.
These areas were previously covered by the Wigglybus network of services. Following a change to the funding stream earlier this year and a comprehensive review of all the County’s flexible transport services by independent consultants from Loughborough University all the services have been reviewed and alterations made to fit them into the new Connect 2 Wiltshire structure of flexible transport services. The changes have included;
- New buses for Calne and the Vale of Pewsey
- New service times in the Vale of Pewsey
- A change to make the Mere service a taxi service instead of a bus
- A new fare structure that is common across all services
- Connections between Vale of Pewsey, Mere and services to the Royal United Hospital Bath service
- New driver uniforms and contractual arrangements with operating companies
- New publicity leaflets for each area and improved advertising of services
The change to the new look services will be followed up by a series of road shows across the County to highlight the service changes and introduce new users to the vehicles and staff behind each Connect 2 Wiltshire service. The road shows will be;
- Mere 22nd October 2007
- Pewsey 23rd October 2007
- Devizes 25th October 2007
- Marlborough 31st October 2007
- Calne 2nd November 2007
All the road shows will be centrally located at each venue and will commence at 0930 – more information about each road show will follow for each area and details will be available from libraries, tourist information centres and on board the buses during early October. Connect 2 Wiltshire staff will be available at each road show to answer any questions about the service, explain how the service works and to dispense travel information and promotional items.
