The Wiltshire Strategic Board (WiSB) is the key overarching, multi-agency partnership for the County.
It is encouraged by government to set out its vision for the future of Wiltshire, and the broad actions that will make a reality of this vision, in a document called a community strategy.
We have called ours 'A Strategy for Wiltshire - creating a county fit for our children'.
The Strategy is currently being revised by the Board, in the light of comments received from Wiltshire organisations and residents. It is proposed that the Strategy is agreed in June 2007 and it will need to take account of, and be consistent with, the Wiltshire Local Area Agreement (LAA). The Board will also need to consider emerging information about the government’s new regime for LAAs which will take effect in April 2008.
The Local Area Agreement (LAA) 2007-2010 is a three-year agreement between Wiltshire and the Government, which sets out an agenda for joint working in the County, and the targets by which success will be measured. The Agreement is overseen by WiSB, which has used the information from the draft Strategy as a robust basis for negotiations. The LAA was signed by Jane Scott, as Chairman of the Wiltshire Strategic Board (WiSB),and by Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government in March 2007 and can be found by following the link to the right-hand side of this page. LAAs are updated each year, and the government is proposing to change the national LAA regime. The government intends to issue more information in the Autumn to inform the negotiation of the LAA to run from April 2008.
The Wiltshire Strategic Board, in response to the need to effectively manage this joint Agreement, is currently reviewing it governance arrangements, and the associated partnership structure in Wiltshire.
