Wiltshire LAA Newsletter - Issue 11

Introduction

This month marks the end of the current LAA and LPSA, and the submission of the Local Agreement for Wiltshire (LAW) 2008-2011, in which the new Local Area Agreement targets are contained, to central government.

07/08 LAA

The 07/08 LAA ended on 31 Mar 08.  The Block Leads will be submitting their final reports against these targets and this, plus other information, will be used to draw up an end of period report.  This will be published on the internet when available.

Update on Local Public Service Agreement

The LPSA is a 3 year agreement with government to deliver 12 ‘stretch’ targets that are important both to the local area and to the government.  The final ‘year’ for the LPSA finished on 31 Mar 08, although there are a few targets that end in 2008/9.  It is not expected that all targets in an LPSA will be fully achieved, but that progress will be made on these difficult areas.  Wiltshire’s LPSA has achieved good progress across the majority of the target areas and it is currently anticipated that almost £6m will be claimed as reward grant for stretch targets achieved.  A report on the performance figures and other information about the LPSA projects is currently being produced and will be published on the internet once available.

The New Local Agreement for Wiltshire

Following several weeks of negotiation, the targets for the new LAA indicators have been agreed with the Government Office South West (GOSW).  This forms part of the Local Agreement for Wiltshire (LAW) which will be signed by the leader of the council, Mrs Jane Scott.  This will then be submitted by GOSW to the Secretary of State for approval and sign off.

The LAW can be viewed by following the link below.  This version is the full document, which includes targets and details of action agreed.  A shorter form will be published shortly.
