What is the Wiltshire public service board?

It is the Public Sector Board for Wiltshire. It brings together key public sector organisations that allocate significant resources to Wiltshire and are held accountable by government. The membership is largely comprised of elected Members and Chairmen who have the authority to commit resources on behalf of their organisation, supported by key officers.

What does the Wiltshire public service board do?

The Wiltshire public service board (WPSB) enables the public sector within Wiltshire to work together in a more focussed way to improve its efficiency and effectiveness. It will agree strategy and commitment from the public sector organisations and agree the LAA. It will be chaired by the leader of the Council and held to account by Wiltshire Council as the accountable body for the LAA.

The following organisations are members of the WPSB:

  • Cabinet Member for Communities, Wiltshire Council
  • Wiltshire Police Authority
  • Wiltshire Police
  • Wiltshire Primary Care Trust
  • Wiltshire Probation
  • Wiltshire & Swindon Fire & Rescue
  • Wiltshire College
  • Learning & Skills Council
  • Ministry of Defence

And are also supported by:

  • Job Centre Plus
  • South West Regional Development Agency
  • Natural England
  • Environment Agency
  • Government Office of the South West

When will it meet?

Initially it will meet about every 6 weeks, but this will be set to reflect the WPSB’s workload.
