A brief description of the partnership
The Transport Alliance will be a newly formed partnership. It will include members from:
- government
- private sector service providers (i.e. bus and rail)
- public sector service providers (i.e. PCT, Schools)
- pressure groups
- professional institutes
- business groups
- the voluntary sector
- service users
Its primary purpose will be, in the short term, to develop the next Wiltshire Local Transport Plan and to ensure the actions within the Local Area Agreement (LAW) are achieved across all themes. Longer term, it hopes to carry forward other transport issues across the county and to act as conduit for the views and opinions of all those with an interest in transport in Wiltshire through subsidiary transport interest groups and through project related task groups.

Priority actions for the Transport Alliance within LAW
- Improve journey time reliability on strategic routes
- Reduce the number of road traffic accidents in Wiltshire
- Reduce carbon emissions from transport
