Direct access hostels

Please tell us what you think about our website, we welcome your feedback.

The housing options team at Wiltshire Council will make every effort to prevent you from becoming homeless. This may involve referring you to other agencies for more specific advice and support, or helping you to bid through our choice based lettings system.

However, if you do find yourself in a homeless situation, you will need to consider the following options to solve your immediate housing need.

  • Staying with friends or family
  • Direct access and referral-only hostels
  • Lodgings
  • Private renting

Most day centres and night hostels aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere that offers help and support, as well as drinks and food. Some also provide advice and assistance on a range of issues, including employment, accommodation and health.
