What is sheltered accommodation?
Sheltered housing is a supported flat or bungalow that is self contained but linked to our Community Alarms Centre. This allows tenants to call for help at any time in an emergency. A team of Housing Support Officers provide daily weekday support to all sheltered schemes.
Am I eligible to apply for sheltered housing?
If you are currently a Wiltshire Council tenant to qualify you should be aged 60 or over.
If you do not currently live in council accommodation you should be aged 60 years old and also fall into one of the categories below
- you or your partner should live or work in the district, or
- have previously lived in the district, or
- have a family connection to the district.
You will need to fill in a waiting list form.
You can apply for sheltered housing through the choice-based lettings system, Homes4WiltshireRidgeway Care & Repair

Lifeline service
The Lifeline service is a community alarm system which provides peace of mind 24 hours of the day. It is available to anyone in social, privately owned and rented homes. It provides the reassurance to enable clients to remain living in their own homes. Help is at hand via the use of a pendant which is worn by the client, or a pull cord situated in the property. An alarm system for victims of domestic violence has also been developed in connection with the police.]
