Whatever your age, ability or background, there are lots of opportunities to get involved as a volunteer in improving Wiltshire's environment (or further afield). You may like the idea of managing woodland or restoring a pond, helping to rebuild a canal lock, manning a visitor centre or being involved in publicity and marketing.
Many organisations in Wiltshire welcome volunteers. There are numerous opportunities to volunteer and you can usually find something that develops your interests - nature conservation, landscape, heritage, education, countryside management. The reasons for volunteering are many:
This varies greatly and depends on the type of volunteering activity undertaken. Protective clothing and equipment is usually provided by the organisation providing the volunteering opportunity free of charge.
Usually no cost to the volunteer except travelling to the task, although this is often covered.
The organisation providing the volunteering opportunity will give details of suitability in relation to age, ability and disability.
