It involves the consideration of planning applications and the monitoring of development as it takes place, ensuring that developments comply with planning permission, and taking enforcement action where breaches of planning control have occurred.
Wiltshire County Council is the Minerals and Waste Planning Authority for Wiltshire, and so has a statutory duty to deal with planning applications involving mineral extraction and management of waste. Please note that Wiltshire County Council is not the Planning Authority for other types of planning applications such as housing, industrial, commercial or leisure developments. For information on such applications, please contact the appropriate District or Borough Council direct.
The Development Control service is responsible for ensuring that development approved by the County Council is carried out in accordance with the conditions and obligations of the planning permission and regular monitoring visits are made to sites to check operations. Any complaints that arise, or unauthorised activities, are investigated and followed up, with enforcement action taken as appropriate to achieve proper planning control.
