Local Partnership Board

Sue Redmond and Sandra Wells are the Co-chairs of the Partnership Board.
Sue says:
"I am the co-chair with Sandra and we try to organise the meetings of the Partnership Board. It is not easy! The board members do not behave and we now have ‘Stop and Go’ cards to try to get some control. I love the time we spend with the board members and the way we are working together should be copied by all committees and boards.
The Local Partnership Board will lead on making sure people with learning disabilities really do what they want in Wiltshire. That is why we are there. My role is to help to make this happen and with Sandra as my partner/co-chair, we will!”
Learning Disability Partnership Boards
- There are Learning Disability Partnership Boards all over the country. They were set up to make sure that lots of different people, organisations and agencies work together to make change happen for people with learning disabilities.
- The Partnership Boards are responsible for making sure that the things set out in the Valuing People White Paper happen.
- People with Learning disabilities and carers are members of the Board, along with representatives from community services, health, housing, children's services, independent providers, advocacy and local Councillors.

What does the Partnership Board do?

The Board brings together people with a learning disability, carers and other professionals to agree plans about things like housing, work, health and social activity, so that people with a learning disability can have the same opportunities as everyone else in Wiltshire.
We make the plans happen by working together and getting all the groups involved to do their parts of the plan.
We have achieved a lot - on jobs, housing and health and other things, but there is still some way to go before everyone in Wiltshire gets the opportunities they should.
