How to find help with school uniform costs
Summary of Service
Initially you should make a confidential enquiry with the Headteacher of the School the child is attending. Many schools offer financial help and/or a second hand uniform scheme or they may be able to suggest other alternatives.
Alternatively, assistance may be available from a Trust Fund or Charity. Wiltshire Charities Information Bureau maintain a database of over 1000 national and local trusts and charities and there may be one that can help you with your uniforms costs. The Wiltshire Citizens Advice Bureau has recently produced a report on the affordability of school uniforms and this can be found by viewing Help with School Uniform costs in Wiltshire. (pdf 171Kb)
Following on from their report the Bureau will be writing to all schools in the County outlining their findings and suggesting positive things that schools can do to support parents on low incomes with school uniform costs.
