Research shows that your child is safe both at school and on school trips, but occasionally things can go wrong. If you have a concern about your child’s safety at school, or the security of the school, you should either contact the school or the Education Department at the County Council.

If your child is being bullied, or has been a victim of crime at school, you may not feel that they are safe there, and they are likely not to either. If your child doesn’t feel safe, they might start not wanting to go to school, they might say they feel ill in the mornings and on Sunday evening, or become withdrawn or depressed. Being supportive of your child at home will help to overcome some of these fears, but they should also be addressed at school.
Schools should have designated staff responsible for things like school security, health and safety, bullying, behaviour or drugs and alcohol. You could talk to them about helping to set up a school security scheme.
