If you are unsuccessful in securing a place at your preferred school(s), you have the right of appeal to an independent appeal panel.
At the appeal hearing you will have the opportunity to present your appeal case in person and the admission authority will explain why a school place was not given.
If your preferred school is a community of voluntary controlled school, you will need to appeal to Wiltshire County Council, who acts as the admission authority. Appeals for voluntary aided or foundation schools should be made to the admission authority for the school. If you are unsure of the admission authority for the school you wish to appeal for, please contact the Customer Care Unit for advice.
Further details of the appeal process can be obtained through the Guidance Notes (pdf, 29Kb). The Appeal Application Form (pdf 30Kb), applies to schools where Wiltshire County Council acts as the admissions authority.
To appeal in writing against the decision to the appropriate admissions authority, stating your case for appeal and providing any supporting evidence. Some admission authorities will require your appeal to be made within a specified time of the refusal notice.
