Summary of Service

The Visual Impairment Service is a team consisting of Advisory Teachers with the mandatory qualification, a Children's Mobility Officer, a specialist Teaching Assistant, and a Technician. The service supports visually impaired children from 0 - 19 living within Wiltshire.

Aims

  • To support the LEA SEN policy of inclusion in local mainstream schools
  • To promote independence for learning and for life
  • To secure equality of access to materials and the learning environment for visually impaired pupils
  • To ensure maximum access to the National Curriculum for all visually impaired pupils
  • To ensure quality and consistency of provision for all visually impaired pupils across the County
