On occasions it is necessary for a decision to be made by school governors and head teacher to close a school in the county. If known about in advance, for example because of planned work being carried out on a school’s water supply, there is an expectation that pupils will be provided by the school with suitable work to do at home.
Sometimes a closure may happen as a result of an emergency situation, for example because of bad weather or the breakdown of the school’s heating system. If this happens, the news of the closure will be broadcast by your local radio station. Parents should check radio bulletins provided by the following radio stations for up-to-date information on school closures.
