Our Land Charges section is responsible for providing information in connection with Local Land Charge searches. Generally Solicitors and Licensed Conveyancers submit a search request to the relevant District Council.
The search is a statutory requirement in any property or land-based transaction and reveals any planning, environmental health, financial and highway restrictions recorded upon the search subject.
We answer the following enquiries, from our perspective, on the Con 29R & O Form. Those marked with an asterisk are answered jointly by Wiltshire County Council and the respective District Council.

Forms LLC1 and Con 29R & O should be submitted to the relevant District Council with the appropriate fee. The enquirer will then receive two separate replies, one from Wiltshire County Council and one from the respective District Council.
We aim to reply to 80% of search enquiries within five days of receipt.
Searches in the registers of Common Land and Town and Village Greens.
Form CON29O and two plans should be submitted in duplicate direct to Highway Records at Wiltshire County Council. The fee is £15.60, please make cheques payable to Wiltshier County Council..
The Highway Records are held and maintained in the Highway Records Section. These are records of all roads, footways and verges in Wiltshire that the County Council is responsible for maintaining.
An appointment may be made to view the records during office hours or enquiries may be made by telephone, letter or email regarding extent of highway. There may be a fee for this information depending on the nature of the enquiry.
Personal Searchers are entitled to inspect, free of charge, public records held in the Highway Records Section. An appointment is required and a charge of £15.00 per enquiry will be made for any assistance. Opening hours for Personal Searchers are Monday to Thursday 10.00am - 12.00pm and 2.00pm - 4.00pm.
