New Minerals and Waste Policies for Wiltshire and Swindon

Wiltshire County Council and Swindon Borough Council have jointly published new minerals and waste policy reports for a period of public consultation.

The documents set out a wide range of issues associated with planning for the provision of sites for mineral extraction and for the management of our wastes. They also help to explain the new planning system ushered in last year, the context for providing minerals and managing wastes in Wiltshire and Swindon, and how you can get involved now to help shape Wiltshire and Swindon’s minerals and waste policy and proposal options for the future.

The consultation on these minerals and waste issues and options is undertaken through the following documents:

Each document identifies the key issues being addressed and the options that the authorities have identified as being key to providing a solution to those issues. If you feel that some issues have not been raised or dealt with properly each report also provides the opportunity for you to tell us about those issues and how you would like us to deal with them.

The consultation documents are available from County Hall, the Borough Council offices, the District council offices and all libraries in Wiltshire and Swindon. They can also be downloaded from the County and Borough Council websites (www.wiltshire.gov.uk or www.swindon.gov.uk) or copies can be made available by telephoning 01225 757598 (minerals planning documents) or 01225 713429 (waste planning documents).

Consultation on these Issues and Options documents ran between Monday 28th November 2005 until noon Monday 23rd January 2006. All comments received will be acknowledged and will help officers in the preparation of draft minerals and waste planning documents to be published next summer.
