‘Preferred Options’ Reports Produced

Since the publication of ‘Issues and Options’ Reports in late 2005, the County and Borough Councils have prepared a series of ‘Preferred Options’ Reports setting out draft policy direction to govern minerals and waste development over the next 20 years. The documents produced are listed below:

To accompany the Preferred Options Documents we have prepared a draft Proposals Map which seeks to illustrate saved policies and new proposals:

Update on Sustainability Appraisal / Strategic Environmental Assessment

To support the publication of the new, draft minerals and waste policy documents, the County and Borough Councils have also published a series of draft Sustainability Appraisal Reports (incorporating the requirements of Strategic Environmental Assessment).

Each ‘Preferred Options’ Report is supported by a draft Sustainability Appraisal Report that aims to both appraise the acceptability of the draft policies as well as help steer the preparation of the final ‘Submission’ draft development plan documents (due Winter 2006 / 2007).  The documents produced are as follows:

Non-Technical Summaries (NTS) of each of the full Sustainability Appraisal Reports are also available:

Comments are invited on all aspects of the draft Sustainability Appraisal documents within the time-frame period set out below.

Consultation Arrangements

A formal six week period of consultation on all the documents (Preferred Options Reports and Sustainability Appraisal Reports) produced will run from Monday 26 June to 5.00 pm, Monday 7 August 2006.  Each Preferred Option Report is accompanied by a standard Response Form which can either be completed and posted or completed and submitted on-line. All comments received within the consultation period will be acknowledged, processed and used to inform the preparation of the final ‘Submission’ draft Development Plan Documents and Sustainability Appraisal Reports later in the year.

The documents published for consultation are available from County Hall, the Borough Council’s offices, offices of the district Councils in Wiltshire and all libraries in Wiltshire and Swindon. Alternatively, copies can be made available for free by telephoning 01225 757598 (minerals planning documents) or 01225 713429 (waste planning documents).

Publication of the Preferred Options Reports has also been advertised in the local press; click the link below for copies of the adverts:
