Rail Aggregate Depot Study
Wiltshire County Council and Swindon Borough Council have completed a preliminary study investigating the potential for future rail aggregate depots within the County and Borough. This work has been undertaken in response to the Inspectors report into the MLP Public Local Inquiry (published November 2000) and will be used to inform future debate through the Minerals Development Framework Forum to establish whether suitable additional or alternative rail aggregate depots should be specifically allocated or safeguarded in the next review of the MLP.
The study which, commenced in August 2002, was undertaken by the two planning authorities in consultation with members of the rail and mineral industry and seventy stakeholders who were identified as having an interest in this area of study.
Below is a copy of the Executive Summary, and full Rail Aggregate Depot Study Report which was formally approved by the two planning authorities in December 2003.
