About this service
In order to protect the health of residents and those who visit Wiltshire, Environmental Services promotes food safety through the provision of food safety advice, carrying out inspections, and if needed, by effectively enforcing the law.
The department investigates about 80 complaints a year where the customer has not been satisfied with the food they have purchased, and is notified about serious incidents of food poisoning. The majority of complaints received concern foreign bodies such as metal, insects, cigarette ends etc. found in the food or deterioration of the product. This video was created to demonstrate the proper technique for hand washing.
We have recently introduced a new food safety star rating scheme called Scores on doors which can provide you with information advising you how hygienic a catering establishment is, whether it is your local pub or the bakery in the high street.
We also provide a pest control service.
