Planning

Wiltshire Council regulates and guides development in Wiltshire, balancing the protection of the county's environment and heritage with the needs of residents, businesses and visitors. We approve or refuse planning applications for development, and make sure that planning controls are implemented through enforcement. Spatial planning officers develop planning and design policies through work with local communities, and ensure these policies are upheld.

The council's Building control section ensures that buildings comply with Building Regulations and that demolitions and dangerous structures are dealt with safely. We also have conservation officers who are responsible for matters relating to listed buildings and conservation areas and preserving our built heritage.

Planning Applications

As the Minerals and Waste Planning Authority we determine applications involving mineral extraction, management of waste, and related developments. We are also responsible for determining planning applications for our own development relating to our own services, such as schools, libraries and roads.

For more details, and to view and comment on an application, please see our planning applications page.
