Minerals local plan
About this service
The Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals Local Plan was adopted in November 2001. In September 2007, most of the policies were 'saved' and remain extant until replaced by policies in the Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents.

Saved Policies - Minerals Local Plan
The policies of the Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals Local Plan were due to lapse on 27 September 2007, however the Secretary of State has directed that some of the policies can be saved until such time as they are superseded by new policies within the County Council's emerging Minerals and Waste Development Framework. Preferred Areas
Preferred Areas are defined within the Minerals Local Plan as:
"Areas of land with reasonable evidence for the existence of commercially extractable minerals, which are largely unaffected by substantial planning constraints and which are adequate, collectively, to meet the anticipated need for mineral."
