Wiltshire 2026

This is a closed consultation and ran from 9am on Friday 30 October until 5pm on Thursday  31 December 2009. The following is for information only.

Would you like to have a say in what happens in Wiltshire over the next 20 years?

If you have an opinion on how we can deliver homes, jobs and services to support a growing population, then we would like to hear from you.

Wiltshire 2026 - Planning for Wiltshire's Future is an important stage in the production of the Wiltshire Core Strategy, which will provide an overall vision and strategy for meeting Wiltshire's needs over a 20 year period. When adopted, the core strategy will eventually replace elements of existing local plans.

To find out why the Core Strategy is important for Wiltshire over the next 20 years and how you can get involved in the process, watch the Wiltshire Core Strategy video.

Wiltshire 2026 - Planning for Wiltshire's Future brings together all the work carried out by the former district councils and presents a strategy for development in Wiltshire for the period to 2026.

However, it does not look at south Wiltshire (former Salisbury District Council) because much work has already been done there as part of the well-advanced South Wiltshire Core Strategy, which is likely to be adopted by Wiltshire Council next year.

Wiltshire 2026 - Planning for Wiltshire's Future

Wiltshire 2026 - Planning for Wiltshire's Future is the main consultation document. It invites comment on three key areas; a vision and strategic objectives for Wiltshire; preferred strategic site allocations, and a spatial strategy for Wiltshire. The full document is available to download below, along with the response form.

Supporting information

Wiltshire 2026 - Planning for Wiltshire's Future is supported by a series of background papers that explain parts of the process in more detail. These and other supporting information, such as evidence base studies and relevant LDF documents, are available to view through the links below.

Sustainability appraisal

We are also consulting on the Sustainability Appraisal Report. Sustainability appraisal is a process that tests all emerging planning policies to make sure they are moving towards creating more sustainable places to live and work. A sustainability appraisal report has been prepared to consider the possible locations for development and make sure the environment is protected and social issues and economic interests are addressed.

Copies of all the sustainability appraisal documents and the response form are available to download below.
