West of Swindon study
This consultation is now closed and we are now in the process of reviewing the representations made. A consultation statement outlining the main issues raised and our responses will be available on this page as soon as possible.
The draft South West Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) is promoting the allocation of 3,000 homes to be located to the west of Swindon within the North Wiltshire area. Local planning policy, (Wiltshire and Swindon Core Strategies), must be in line with this regional policy and Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council have worked jointly to assess the most appropriate location for these homes should the allocation within the RSS be adopted.
We released our findings for a six week public consultation, which ran from Monday 16 February until Monday 30 March, 2009. The following consultation documents are available to download.

Swindon Borough Council Small Scale Urban Extension Study
In addition, copies of the West of Swindon Study Update are available for public inspection at the offices of Wiltshire Council, at Monkton Park and Bythesea Road, and Swindon Borough Council. The study is also available at library and information points in the North Wiltshire area and Swindon.
