Short Breaks
A short break away from caring can be a few hours, an over night stay, a weekend, or a longer period of care, or a holiday. They may be regular, or occasional and enable the carer to go out, go shopping, have a bath in peace, visit other family members or sleep, knowing that the cared for person is well supported.
The breaks service may be a:
- sitter, or care worker, staying with the person you care for at home, or taking them out;
- place at a day centre;
- stay in a care home;
- contribution towards the expense of a holiday
The person who assesses your need will be able to advise you about these services.
