The Department of Community Services and the Primary Care Trusts together with the voluntary organisations in Wiltshire which support carers are working together to find out how carers and the people for whom they care can be better supported.
The Wiltshire Carer Policy and Strategy recognises the importance of listening to carers both in planning for individual needs and in planning for services.
We also know that because of caring commitments, many carers find it difficult to attend meetings.
Carers Voice is a panel of up to 500 carers who regularly give their views on a wide range of issues which affect carers.
Carers Voice is for people who combine caring with paid employment, those who care for someone a few hours a week and those who care for someone all day and every day.
The panel includes men and women of all ethnic backgrounds aged 18 and upwards. It includes carers of adults and children with physical and learning disabilities and people with mental health needs.
As a panel member there are five ways in which you can be involved. It is for you to decide which ways suit you and how often you take part.
