Ridgeway Community Housing Association has four, not-for-profit Home Improvement Agencies; Kennet Care & Repair, North Wiltshire Care & Repair, Swindon Care & Repair and West Wiltshire Care & Repair.
By working in partnership with Local Authorities, Social Services and Health Authorities, the Home Improvement Agencies help older and disabled home owners to live independent lives by improving their homes and making them more suited to their individual needs.
To qualify for help or advice on adaptations or building works to your home, you or the person that you care for needs to be over 60 and/or disabled, and live in Wiltshire (Ridgeway do not cover Salisbury, an equivalent service that does cover Salisbury is Anchor Staying Put).

The Community Transport sector plays a large part in the delivery of transport for people who are unable to access conventional public transport services for a variety of reasons including mobility difficulties, lack of public transport, cost etc. Many schemes also provide community group transport for leisure and social outings.

Law Centres provide a free and independent professional legal service to people who live or work in their catchment areas. The Law Centres were to set up to overcome the obstacles faced by people who need access to the legal system. They specialise in those areas of law including welfare rights, immigration and nationality, housing and homelessness, employment rights, and sex and race discrimination. Other areas of work vary according to local need and may include mental health, disability rights, education rights, juvenile crime and children's rights.

The Alzheimer’s Society has expertise in information and education for carers and professionals. The North Wiltshire Branch is able to offer the following services:
They are able to give immediate advice to anyone who contacts our telephone Helpline (01249 443469) . This is staffed from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday. An answer phone is in operation outside of these times. The branch can also be contacted by email.
Their office stocks a wide range of leaflets and fact sheets on all issues relevant to dementia sufferers and their carers, including medical and financial, service availability, and the latest research findings. It is backed up by access via the internet to the national Society's database.
Through their contacts with RICE (Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly), a confidential memory assessment can be arranged for anyone who is starting to become forgetful and unsure. The branch provides a comprehensive help and support facility for all stages of dementia.
They offer a range of help to alleviate the stresses and social isolation that can be imposed on carers The website has a specific section for carers entitled Carers Support.
In matters of health and social service, it is important that the interests of those with dementia are voiced within the local community. The branch monitors situations that may be relevant, and lobbies for the best possible conditions on their behalf.

There are always experienced group leaders present to provide support and help. As well as the social groups there are a number of small support groups providing a safe place for people to talk in complete confidence about their problems. Wiltshire Mind also has a team of trained counsellors who can provide one to one counselling for those who need it. There is also Befriending services aimed to bring support to those isolated or housebound, providing a friendly regular contact.

The research carried out by The Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly covers a wide variety of areas and is intended to advance the knowledge and treatment of the more serious conditions affecting older people, in particular Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and to improve their quality of life.
The Institute runs a weekly Memory Clinic and a Nurse led Community Memory screening Clinic (CMSC) to help those people who are concerned about memory loss, whether for themselves or for a loved one. The Research Institute also holds courses specifically for carers of memory impaired people.

Alzheimer’s Support is a registered charity founded in 1990 in response to a locally identified need for support for people with dementia and their Carers. Alzheimer’s Support provides a range of flexible services.
They provide sufferers, Carers, professionals and the public with information about dementia and in doing so raises awareness about dementia and promotes a better understanding about it.
They provide by a qualified counsellor who recognises the difficulty Carers encounter. The aim is to provide a non judgemental and confidential service.
This is an activity based social club for people with dementia. The Club is based in Trowbridge and provides long-term support to members as their dementia develops. A unique aspect of the club is the opportunity for members to enjoy an occasional overnight stay, which may include outings such as trips to the theatre, whilst giving their carer a 24 hour respite break. Transport is provided, ensuring people in rural, isolated areas have the opportunity to attend the Club.
Offers company and conversation for the person with dementia in their own home. It enables the sufferer to go shopping, for walks and to continue with leisure pursuits and hobbies, whilst providing respite for their Carers.
This is a Saturday day care service for those living in the Westbury and Warminster area. It offers social outings for members to remain part of their community whilst providing respite and informal support to their Carers.
This is a similar socially stimulating day care service for people in the early to middle stages of dementia, held over the weekend when other services are closed. The Club is based in Charter House, Trowbridge.
This offers opportunities for Carers to meet together on a regular basis and provide a range of functions, including education, training, mutual support and social activities. They can also act as a pressure group to influence local services. Support Groups are run in Trowbridge, Warminster, Devizes and Kennet.
Alzheimer's Support is registered and inspected as a Domiciliary Care Service Provider.

Rethink Carers is a sister site of Rethink. They operate over 130 Rethink carers support groups over the country. The research carried out by The Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly covers a wide variety of areas and is intended to advance the knowledge and treatment of the more serious conditions affecting older people, in particular Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and to improve their quality of life.
The Institute runs a weekly Memory Clinic and a Nurse led Community Memory screening Clinic (CMSC) to help those people who are concerned about memory loss, whether for themselves or for a loved one. The Research Institute also holds courses specifically for carers of memory impaired people.
