Please tell us what you think about our website, we welcome your feedback.

About this service

These are services that you can receive as a carer. They are services that can help you to maintain your health and well being, or the caring role. They include:

  • Information and support - Carers Support organisations offer this service both to individual carers and through carers groups
  • Time out schemes - Carers Support organisations arrange outings and opportunities for relaxation, for groups and individual carers
  • "Looking after yourself" - Sessions which might include back care managing stress and relaxation are also arranged by Carers Support
  • Help with holidays - A cash grant of up to £300 to enable a carer to take a real break, i.e. a holiday. This is accessed through a carers assessment, see A guide to Assessment of Carer Needs 462kb A guide to Assessment of Carer Needs
  • An individual service - Some carers cannot use the services described because of their particular situation, but the assessment of carers needs may highlight something which would make a real difference to the carer in their caring role. The worker responsible for the assessment will explore with the carer whether these needs may be met, through a direct payment.
