The Referral and assessment teams are the first point of contact and will receive all referrals from professionals, parents, etc. They process these through referral assessment processes and make judgements in terms of transfer on to either a Community Safeguarding team, into Looked After Children (LAC) teams or signposting to other services.
The Community Safeguarding teams will focus primarily on working with children in need and children subject to child protection plans. Community Safeguarding teams work with children and their families on cases involving Child Protection or Child Placement, such as fostering and supported lodgings.
The LAC / After Care teams work with children and young people where there is either an existing permanency plan for them to remain in care or an emerging plan. The teams will also provide services to young people who are eligible for after care services.
