Using this website

This website contains information about all the services, schemes and projects offered by Wiltshire Council. To help you get the most from the website, there are a number of features to get you to the information you need as quickly as possible.

Homepage

The homepage consists of a series of boxes containing key information and links about individual services.

You can drag these boxes around the page by clicking on the grey title bar of each box, holding your mouse cursor down and dragging the box to a new position on the screen. In that way, you can ensure the boxes of most relevance to you are at the top of the page.

You can also remove any box that contains information you are not interested in by clicking on the “X” in the top right corner of each box.

If you close a box by mistake, you can re-instate it by clicking on the “Customise your homepage” button at the top of the screen.

Your computer will remember changes you make such that next time you visit the page you will see the homepage customised to your preferred layout.

We will be introducing more boxes covering other key service areas as the website develops.

Navigation

The main website navigation is on the left. By default, it shows the local navigation around a particular section of the website; however, you can always get back to the main navigation for the whole website by clicking on the “Main menu” tab.

On the homepage, the default navigation shows links to the major service areas of the website by which you can Apply for a service, Book an appointment, Report a problem or Pay a bill. Clicking on the “Main menu” tab brings up the list of the major sections of the website.

Local information

In some parts of the website, the information about a service varies according to where you lived. On these pages, there are a series of tabs corresponding to the North, South, East and West of the county. Clicking on these tabs will show information specific to that area.

On these pages, you can enter your postcode and address, either by clicking on the “Select address” tab (where available) or on the “Localise this page” button at the top of the page.

Once you have chosen an address, the website will remember it so that where appropriate, it always shows information specific to your location.
