About this website
The Wiltshire County Council website has four main areas:
- The Top Toolbar contains links that are useful for finding your way around the site and the breadcrumb trail. The breadcrumb trail is a navigation aid that shows you where you are on the website and allows you to quickly return to upper levels of the site.
- The Left Colum contains the council's main navigation menu, which consists of links to other parts of the site and important pages on the site. On the home page this column also contains our contact details.
- The Middle Column contains the main text area of the site and consists of the main content or information for the page.
- The Right Column contains related menus that provide additional information, i.e. associated pages, documents, forms and links to the page you are viewing.
- The Footer contains links to our Disclaimers, Terms and Conditions and other legal information, we also provide links to partner organisations.
Text Size
To change your text size, simply use the increase text size feature on the home page of this website, by selecting a larger A will increase your text size. Or if you prefer you can use your web browser's View menu. In Internet Explorer, for example, go to the View menu and select Text Size, and choose your preferred size from the list.
Text Colour
If you need to have different colours on all the web pages that you visit, you can set your browser to apply certain rules about colours and text sizes to all web pages you visit. In Internet Explorer, for example, select the Tools menu - Internet options. Now select the Colours and Fonts of your choice. Once you have done this, select the Accessibility button and check the boxes to ignore font sizes, styles and colours specified on web pages (it will then use your defaults instead).
PDF Documents
This website uses PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format for documents and forms that can be downloaded.
To read these documents, you will need software called Acrobat Reader. This software is freely available, and you can download a copy from the Adobe Acrobat website.
The current version of Adobe Acrobat has a number of accessibility features. If you have an older version, you can upgrade by downloading the new version from the Adobe Acrobat website.
All links to downloadable documents include the file size. This helps users to get an idea of how long it will take to download the document.
Pages which include PDF files for download carry the link to the Acrobat Reader download page on the Adobe website.
