Summary of Service

Wiltshire County Council does not have an Incontinence laundry service.

Details of Service

If you are unable to cope in your own home due to incontinence, you need to contact your GP surgery who will assess your health needs and may refer you to a continence clinic, a continence nurse, or your local hospital urology department.

If, however, you require additional help because of your incontinence, you can ask Wiltshire Social Services for a care needs assessment to see if you are eligible for social care. You can contact your local social services office to find out more information. Each case is different and arrangements would be made on an individual basis.

Local district councils provide a waste collection service.

There are also a number of organisations that can offer advice and support if you have an incontinence problem such as:

  • NHS Direct 0845 4647 may be able to give you information on how you can receive assistance.
  • Help the Aged will provide advice and information.
  • Age Concern have a factsheet.
  • The Continence Foundation Helpline will allow you to talk to a nurse in confidence about your incontinence problem. Tel: 0207 831 9831 Monday to Friday 2.00 - 7.00pm.
  • Incontact is an organisation who will help people with bowel and bladder problems and their carers.
